What is the Georgia HEART Program?

The Georgia HEART (Hospital Educational and Health Care Access Act) Program is an initiative approved by the Georgia General Assembly that allows state taxpayers to receive a 100% Georgia state income tax credit for contributions made to qualified rural hospitals.

Because Union General Hospital qualifies as a designated Rural Hospital Organization (RHO), your tax dollars directly fund local healthcare needs, advanced medical technology, and facilities that our neighbors rely on daily.

How It Works

1. Apply Online – Visit www.GeorgiaHeart.org and complete the quick 2-minute tax credit application. Select Union General Hospital or Chatuge Regional Hospital as your designated hospital.
2. Receive Pre-Approval & Contribute – Georgia HEART will submit your application to the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR). Once pre-approved, you’ll receive simple instructions to submit your payment.
3. Claim Your 100% Tax Credit – When you file your Georgia state income tax return, claim your 100% tax credit using Form IT-QEE-RHO1 provided by Georgia HEART. You receive a full dollar-for-dollar tax offset!
