FREE Medical Helicopter Memberships

March 21, 2017

We are very excited to announce that we will be offering FREE Medical Helicopter Memberships again this year to all citizens in both Union and Towns county! New memberships for all county citizens will go into effect on June 1st, 2017. Union and Towns county residents do not have to sign up for the membership, they just have to be a resident of the county.

Union and Towns county residents that signed up for the free Medical Helicopter Memberships last year will remain covered until June 1st and will not need to re-register.

On average, a medical helicopter flight in this area costs around $40,000 – $50,000. In an effort to provide our local community critical care in the air without the financial burden, we reached out to both Union and Towns county to help offer this membership through the Air Methods Advantage program. Air Methods provides emergency air medical transport to the nearest trauma center for patients in critical condition.

The citizens of Union and Towns county will not have any out-of-pocket expenses if the need arises for them to use the medical helicopter stationed at Union General Hospital. Those who use the medical helicopter will receive a bill in the mail, however, this membership will take what the individual’s insurance will cover and then it will pay any remaining costs. If someone does not have insurance this program will pay all of the costs.

For questions regarding this FREE membership, please call or email Leslie Daniel at (706) 745-2050 or mchf@uniongeneral.org.
